In a big haul of gold recovery, Customs Intelligence officials seized 240 gold bars weighing 28 kg at Shah Amanat International Airport on Thursday evening. Additional director general of Customs Moazzem Hossain said a flight of Regent Airways from Bangkok landed at the airport around 6:30pm. On secret information, a team of the Customs Intelligence searched the plane and recovered the gold worth Tk 12 crore in an abandoned condition at a toilet, he said, adding that the gold bars were wrapped in white scotch tape. Although the customs officials detained two passengers soon after the gold recovery, they were later released after scrutinising their papers and luggage, said Moazzem.– UNB, Chittagong.
