Muggers looted Tk 12.5 lakh after shooting a garment factory owner at Baliapur on Dhaka-Aricha highway here on Monday afternoon.
Police, quoting witnesses, said Sawkat Mahmud, managing director of Haven Fashion Ltd of Hemayetpur in Savar, withdrew Tk 27 lakh from the Mirpur branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh
Ltd in the afternoon. When he was returning to his garment factory by a private car with the money in two bags, five muggers in two motorbikes intercepted him at Baliapur around 5:15 pm.
