Entrepreneurs have sold products worth Tk 10 crore and bagged orders worth Tk 17 crore at this year’s National SME Product Fair that ended Sunday.
The eight-day fair organised by the SME Foundation at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka started on December 5.
Some 325 stalls were set up to display homemade products at the ninth edition of the event where about 60 per cent of the participants were women, the organisers said.
Different products of agriculture, food and agro machinery, ICT, software, leather, light engineering, jute, plastics, handicrafts and imitation jewellery dominated the fair.
Md Moniruzzaman, proprietor of Ringo Ruti Maker, said the main purpose of participating in this fair was to promote products.
“After a long time, I took part in a fair. No buyer was there in the first two days of the showcase due to bad weather. But sales have been good from the third day.”
Md Mafizur Rahman, managing director of SME Foundation, said entrepreneurs have not been able to participate in any fair for nearly two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
And before this festival, they could not sell products in large volumes, which have only created burden for the stock, he said. “The small entrepreneurs have benefited a lot by participating in this fair.”
The SME Foundation has been organising the fair since 2012 to promote SME products.
