Chairman of the city watchdog -Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) Abdus Salam said the implementation of the three ongoing mega development projects taken up by CDA with an outlay of Taka 10,844 crore will help take Chittagong city by 50 years forward.
He said CDA has taken up massive plans to address nagging water-logging problem in the city and its implementation through strong coordination of all stakeholders would help bring visible change before next monsoon.
“Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has already approved the three projects-Tk 5,616 crore project for re-excavation, expansion, renovation and development of canals for removal of water-logging, Tk 3,250 crore project for construction of elevated express way from Lalkhan Bazar to Shah Amanat International Airport, Tk 1,978 crore project for building up eight kilometers long roads cum embankments from Chaktai to Kalurghat bridge”, Salam said this in an exchange of views with journalists at a city hotel on Saturday afternoon.
He said Chittagong is expanded from the bank of the river Karnaphuli to Teknaf frontier and development works of Tk one lakh crore including setting up of special economic zone, industrial park, power village, deep seaport, tourism industry and Asian Highway are expected to be completed in Southern Chittagong within next five years.
