Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Ltion has said Tk 10,000 crore projects will be implemented within next five years in Rajshahi city for improving living and livelihood condition of its people.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very much positive towards development of the city. So, he expected that there will no financial problem of implementing the development.
Mayor Liton made this observation yesterday while sharing views with valiant freedom fighters and working journalists at Nanking Darbar Hall in Rajshahi city. Mayor Liton also narrated his planning for development of the city.
He told the meeting that ‘Rajshahi WASA Surface Water Treatment Plant Project with Taka 4,062 crore’ has been approved in Thursday’s ECNEC meeting for providing treated water to Rajshahi people. Assuring his cooperation towards arranging housing plots for freedom fighters and journalists in the city Liton said he is committed to generating employment opportunities for one lakh unemployed people.
He pledged to build Rajshahi as a prosperous, modern and developed city and to expedite industrialization process in the city and its outskirts and sought all-out cooperation of the city dwellers for successful implementation of the projects.He said implementation of Bangabandhu Hi-tech Park here is progressing fast and employment scopes for more than 14,000 youths will be created after its successful completion. He said we have plans of setting up five star hotels, BKSP, cricket venue, agricultural university and heart foundation in the city.

150 farmers get livestock cards
A total of 150 grassroots farmers were given livestock cards so that they can get their need-based services of boosting livestock through the best uses of the cards.
They received the cards at a function held on the premises of Shah Agriculture Information Library (SAIL) at Kaligram village under Manda Upazila in the district on Saturday afternoon.
Bangladesh Livestock Society (BLS) and SAIL jointly organized the card distribution and database launching programme in association with Piartop Limited. More than 250 farmers both male and female and others concerned joined the programme.
They were given idea and knowledge on how to improve livestock through the best uses of modern technologies.
Chaired by BLS President Prof Dr Jalal Uddin Sarder, the meeting was addressed, among others, by managing director of Piartop Limited Dr Syed Mostofa Ali, chairman of Better Nature and Society Hasibul Hassan, BLS General Secretary Dr Hemayetul Islam, Treasurer Enamul Haque and SAIL Founder Jahangir Alam Shah.
The discussants urged the service providers to reach the livestock related necessary services to the grassroots growers for boosting animal resources, particularly cattle and goat farming.
They unanimously said necessary services like production, primary treatment, de-worming, vaccination and farm management should be given priority to boost animal health.
Dr Mostofa Ali stressed the need for uplifting the livestock sector for food security, self-employment and poverty reduction.
He also called for giving due importance to adoption of modern technology, promotion of high yielding varieties and farmers training to overcome the crisis, reports.
