Tk. 1.22 lakh fine realized for defying lockdown in Bagerhat

A sum of Tk.1 lakh 22 thousand 9 hundred was realized as fine from 68 persons and some 10 others were convicted and sentenced to suffer simple imprisonment on different terms by the Mobile Courts in a day (Saturday from the morning till the night) in Bagerhat district on the charge of violating the commandants and prohibitions imposed in the country by the government for 15 days’ strict lock down with effect from July 23. The Mobile Courts set up at the different places of 9 Upazilas of the district by Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) and Executive Magistrates and awarded the punishments to 78 (68+10) persons. Including this some 542 cases were lodged with the Mobile Courts and the courts realized Tk.4 lakh 67 thousand 3 hundred 50 from 557 persons while convicted some 21 others to suffer simple imprisonment on different terms so far (from July 23 to July 31).
Md. Shahinuzzaman, Additionl District Magistrate, Bagerhat told, we are trying our level best to check the corona pandemic after making the general people contentious about the health rules. We are distributing marks among the people and miking regularly in order to create awareness among the mess people about the terrible consequences of the corona virus. Not only that but also we are distributing food among the destitute people. In spite of that a section of people are violating the health rules and commandants and prohibitions of the lock down. He added, we are very much strict to bring this section of people into book with a view to checking the corona pandemic.
