The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found 22 sectors of corruption inside the Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited.
ACC on Wednesday submitted an investigative and observational report on corruption in Titas to State Minister for Power Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid.
The ACC also gave 12-points recommendation along with the report to prevent corruption in the entity. ACC Commissioner Mohammad Mozammel Haque Khan submitted the report to the minister at his secretariat office.
He said in 2017 ACC formed 25 organizational teams for submitting reports after investigating laws, administrative procedures, and various sides of govt money embezzlement and misuse in 25 public institutions. Several reports have already been sent to the ministries concerned, the ACC commissioner added.
He said that these teams identify the source of corruption by conducting investigations. Titas Gas related organizational team collected information after discussion with Titas Gas Company’s retired officers, working officers and those who have a good idea during their investigation.
Besides, the team also reviewed the statements of the beneficiaries, annual reports, and audit reports, information of victims of corruption and irregularities of Titas and corruption reports published in newspapers, he said.
He said that the report identified 22 sources of possible corruption. Some of the sources are illegal connection, illegal link renegotiation, meter tampering, excessive gas connection to boiler and generator, system loss, negiligence to install EVC (Electronic Volume Corrector) etc.
ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhatachraja said State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid praised the activities of the ACC and said proper action would be taken considering the report of the ACC.
