To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Tirjok Natyadol, the troupe is going to organise a year-long theatre festival all over the country from December 24.
As part of the festival, a four day theatre festival titled ‘Tirjok Natya Mela” will start on December 24 at Theatre Institute Chittagong (TIC).
The festival will be inaugurated by the Minister of Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, while sociologist Dr. Anupam Sen will be presided over the programme.
The festival will feature discussion on varied issues at TIC’s Lecture Theatre.
On December 25, noted author-playwright Syed Shamsul Haque will deliver a speech title “Anubadoker Anuvhobe Shakespeare”. Thespian Ataur Rahman will discuss on a paper title “Natoker Aloke Rabindra Sahitya Srijan” on December 26. Eminent theatre personality Mamunur Rashid will present a paper title “Shilper Manobsompod O Arthonity” on December 27.
All the discussion programmes of the festival will be presided over by poet Arun Dasgupta, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University, Professor Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury and theatre activist Shishir Dutta.
Four theatre personalities will be honoured at the festival. A number of groups will take part at the festival. The troupes are Rokto Korobi, School of Oriental Dance, Proma Abriti Sangathan, Sanchari Nrittyakala Academy, Natraj Nrritangan and many others.
The festival will feature Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Rokto Korobi’, Sophocles’s Greek tragedy ‘Oedipus’, Rabindranath Tagore’s Bisarjan, Michael Madhushudan Dutta’s ?Buro Shaliker Ghare Ro?.
The festival will continue till December 27.
