Zakir Husain :
Reports show that the amount of road accident in Bangladesh is relatively higher than other countries. Investigations indicates that the country witness a large number of road accidents, with total fatalities reaching 7,221 in 2018, according to a report by the Bangladesh Passenger Welfare Organization. From this, the matter of life saving techniques comes out.
Like every year the second Saturday of September is observed the “World First Aid Day” with the objective of rising awareness among the people about how first aid can save lives. 10th September 2020, will observe the “World First Aid Day” with the theme “First Aid is for Everyone, Everywhere”. Since 2000 the International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies (IFRC) introduce and observe this day globally.
Worldwide, statistics shows that 2 million people are killed and 50 million are injured in road crashes each year; as they are the leading cause of death among the 15-29 age group, noting that 49% of deaths are pedestrians. For motorcyclists, wearing a motorcycle helmet can reduce the risk of death in the event of a crash (by up to 40%) and the chance of a serious injury (by up to 70 %). Lack of oxygen (or hypoxia) is one of the most common causes of death among traffic accident victims; due to airway obstructions.
This terrible amount of death and serious injuries may be reduced by the growing awareness among the people about safety and encouraging first aid training for all community members, providing first aid courses to community members by specialists, raising awareness about the most importance home and outdoor accidents and required first aid and Introducing the bodies providing accredited first aid courses.
