Women's ODI series: Tigresses stay alive beating Proteas

Bangladesh Women’s cricket team remained alive in the five-match ODI series after a 10-run victory against touring South Africa in the third match at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Monday.
This is the 2nd victory for Bangladesh against South Africa in their nine meetings. Bangladesh managed the 1st victory by two wickets over South Africa in their 1st meeting in September 2012 in Mirpur.
The visitors are now leading the series 2-1.
In the day’s match, batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh scored 136 for all in 49 overs.
Skipper Rumana Ahmed (28), opener Sharmin Sultana (21), Nigar Sultana (21), Sharmin Akhter (17) and Sanjida Islam (16) were the double figure scorers for Bangladesh.
Dane van Niekerk, Marizanne Kapp and Sune Luus took two wickets each for 18, 18 and 29 runs in 7, 8 and 10 overs respectively.
Chasing 137 runs, South Africa finished the innings on 126 for all in 31.2 overs with opener Lizelle Lee top-scoring 46 off 31 balls, including nine boundaries and one six.
Visiting side skipper Dane van Niekerk was another double figure scorer with unbeaten 42 off 65 balls, including six boundaries.
Player of the match, off-break spinner Khadija Tul Kubra hauled her career-best 4 for 33 in 10 overs.
Jahanara Alam and Panna Ghosh took two wickets each for 21 and 25 runs in 7 and 5 overs respectively.
The 4th match of the series will be held at the same venue on Wednesday (January 18).
