Bangladesh national women’s cricket team misery continued on as they lost the five-match ODI series 0-3 after suffering a humiliating nine-wicket defeat against host South Africa women’s cricket team in the third ODI held on Wednesday at Diamond Oval, Kimberley.
Put into bat first by South Africa, Bangladesh were bundled out for meager 71 runs in 36.5 overs with only two batsmen able to reach the double figure mark.
Wicket keeper Nigar Sultana saved the Bangladesh eves from total embarrassment as she top scored with unbeaten 33 runs while Panna Ghosh made 12, after Bangladesh were staggering by losing their first four wickets for only six runs in the scoreboard.
Medium pacer Ayabonga Khaka was the pick of South African bowler as she claimed three Bangladesh’s wickets conceding 16 runs. She was well supported by Marizanne Kapp who captured two wickets giving away 14 runs.
Chasing a paltry winning target of 72 runs set by Bangladesh, South Africa hardly had to sweat as they strolled home for the loss of one wicket with 214 balls to spare.
Lizelle Lee and Trisha Chetty led the hosts towards the victory to remain unbeaten on 44 and 15 runs respectively.
Nahida Akter took the lone South African’s wickets for 16 runs to allow the host from some blemish.
