Law enforcing agencies have adopted tightened security measures across the region to thwart any sort of terror attacks, militancy and terrorism.
According to the sources concerned, all the students’ messes have brought under special surveillance.
Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Khurshid Alam told newsmen that the law enforcing agencies are putting in their level best efforts to prevent terrorism and militancy.
In addition to the strengthened preventive measures, various other actions like formation of committee with leaders of influence, collecting information of the fugitives and intensifying surveillance to the sensible areas have also been taken.
On Friday, heightened security measures were taken in Rajshahi city and its surrounding areas. Khurshid Alam said that acting on information, law enforcers had taken special security measures.
He claimed that in recent times, they were able to foil several terror plots as they had intelligence reports.
Policemen and RAB members were seen checking vehicles and frisking people at checkpoints in and around the city. None was allowed to enter Rajshahi University camps without showing their identity cards. All senior police officials like the DIG of Rajshahi range, the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police commissioner and the Rajshahi SP, were seen monitoring the security measures.
