Tight security steps taken ahead of Durga Puja, Eid-ul-Azha

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) and district police have started taking preparation to take fool-proof security arrangement to ensure smooth holding of upcoming Durga Puja and Eid-ul-Azha, the two major religious festivals of the Muslim and Hindu communities.
Newly appointed CMP Commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol in a press conference here today said the authority has started view exchanging meeting with Hindu community in the different parts in the city from today, side by side taking foolproof security of all places of worships where Durga puja will be celebrated in the city.
“The view exchanging meeting will be completed within two days and we are maintaining round the clock communications with the places of worships for Durga puja,” he added.
Meanwhile, necessary preparations for Durga Puja are on the final stage in the port city and 14 upazilas of the district where all-time record number idols of Goddess Durga will be erected this year, Puja Udjapan Parishad said.
The artisans are passing their busiest time at this peak hour to give finishing touches to idols of Goddess Durga with their artistic creativity and colours.
Tens of hundreds of Hindu community people of all ages are rushing to the markets and purchasing Puja clothes to celebrate their greatest religious festival from tomorrow with great enthusiasm, religious fervour and gaiety.
Besides, the intelligence agencies were asked to intensify their round the clock vigilance in and around the city. They were asked to collect secret information about the suspected trouble- makers or offenders so that police could take all sorts of preventive measures to avert any incident during the festival time.
