Bangladesh Cricket team will wear different jerseys against the Caribbeans team in the upcoming ODI series. Cricketers of Bangladesh will wear special jersey to mark the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh’s Independence and the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Akram Khan said BCB will celebrate the two occasions amid the 16 crore people of the country.
Akram Khan said, “We want to do lot of things. We hope we shall do a lot of things but we could not do those things due to coronavirus outbreak. This is a sad thing for us. Even then we are trying to do more. We are also trying to make commemorative coins. Since we have time we’ll try to finalise it very soon.”
Bangladesh cricketers has returned to international cricket after 10-month due to coronavirus pandemic. Bangladesh will play three One Day International (ODI) matches and two Test matches against the touring West Indies.
Bangladesh will take on West Indies in the first ODI on January 20, face the tourists in the second ODI on January 22 and meet the visitors in the third ODI on January 25.
The colour of the jerseys of Bangladesh Cricket team will be the colour red and green, which will be highlighted the flag of Bangladesh. The red sun will proudly set in the jersey as the red sun has taken a significant place in Bangladesh’s flag. The picture of the joy and celebration of the freedom fighters will also take place in Bangladesh Cricket team’s jersey. Besides, the National Martyrs’ Monument will also be displayed in the jerseys.
The BCB will take various steps in a bid to mark the Golden Jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Akaram Khan said, ” It is a special occasion for us as the series marks 50 years of our country’s independence. We have jersey in mind to celebrate that. And the jersey is like our national flag, made with green and red. We have highlighted the way the red sun is in our flag. We have highlighted the way our heroic freedom fighters rejoiced after our liberation war, the way they celebrated our independence and our National Martyrs’ Monument will be in Jersey. I hope all will like it.”
