Tigers to play tri-series in Sri Lanka

Bangladesh cricketers gets into T20I action soon as Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Saturday announced the fixtures for a triangular T20I series with India and Bangladesh to be held early next year.
Sri Lanka will be celebrating their 70th year Independence next year and in order to make more special Sri Lanka’s Cricket Sri lanka are arranging this Tri-angular T20I with all matches will be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
This Tri-series kicks-off from March 8, 2018 with each team facing each other twice before the final slated to be held on March 20.
The competition will be known as the Nidahas Trophy which, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan taking to local reporter said this tourney is being organized as a gesture of friendship between the neighbouring countries.
BCB Boss acknowledged and recalled the unending contributions towards Bangladesh cricket by Sri Lanka and India. He further added that by this invitation it once again proves how could and cordial relationship stands between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka Board.
SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala was the visionary behind the last Nidahas Trophy hosted by Sri Lanka in 1998, which was a triangular ODI series to commemorate their 50th year of independence, where the other participants were India and New Zealand.
“70 years is a long journey, and one that needs to be commemorated and celebrated. We are happy that our closest neighbours, who share more or less the same journey of independence, are joining us in this celebration, which we believe will be a milestone and an augur of the great things to come in the annals of cricket,” Sumathipala said while expressing his optimism over the series.
Currently Sri Lanka involved in a series against India, to celebrate India’s 70th year of independence as well, where they will play three Tests and an equal number of ODIs and T20Is.
