First T20I: Tigers tame Zimbabwe

Bangladesh posted an easy 48-run victory over Zimbabwe in their first Twenty20 International (T20I) match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Monday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a mammoth total of 200 for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then all out Zimbabwe for 152 runs in 19 overs.
The Tigers made a formidable start as openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das put on together 92 runs in the opening stand before Tamim Iqbal was caught at the extra cover by
Sean Williams off Wesley Madhevere. Tamim hit a polished 41. His 33-ball innings was decorated with three fours and two sixes.
Then Liton Das was trapped leg before wicket by Sikandar Raza when Bangladesh’s total was 106 for the loss of two wickets.
Liton Das notched up a superb 59. His 39-ball innings was decorated with five fours and three sixes. It was Liton’s third half-century in T20I cricket.
After Liton’s dismissal, Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim contributed together 40 runs for the third wicket partnership before Mushfiqur Rahim (17) was caught at the mid-off by Sean Williams off Chris Mpofu when the Tigers’ score was 146 for the loss of three wickets.
Then Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah Riyad added together 54 runs in the unbroken fourth wicket stand before Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Soumya remained unbeaten with 62. He hit five sixes and four fours in his 32-ball innings. It was Soumya’s second half-century in T20I cricket.
Mahmudullah remained unbeaten with 14 runs.
Wesley Madhevere, Sikandar Raza and Chris Mpofu got one wicket each conceding 15, 31 and 58 runs respectively.
Later, Zimbabwe lost their wickets in regular intervals.
Bowlers of Bangladesh dominated over the Zimbabwean batsmen.
Aminul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman grabbed three wickets each at the cost of 34 and 32 runs respectively.
Besides, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin and Shafiul Islam took one wicket apiece.
Opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe made a notable 28, while Carl Mumba scored 25.
Besides, Sean Williams, Richmond Mutumbami and Donald Tiripano added 20 runs each to the Zimbabwe total.
