Bangladesh Tigers will start their ICC T20 World Cupcampaign taking on the Netherlands in the qualifying round Group-Amatch at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, India on Wednesday.
The match will start at 3:30pm Bangladesh time.
The Tigers left Dhaka for India on Monday morning to play the 6th edition of the tournament after completing the 13th Asia Cup mission as runners-up.
In the remaining two qualifying round matches at the same venue, Bangladesh will play against Ireland and Oman on March 11 and 13.
Addressing a press briefing at Dharamsala on Tuesday, Bangladeshcaptain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, they are afraid of rain only. “If the rain comes, the match will be reduced which will be challenging for us.”
Two Test-playing and six associate members countries, split in two groups, will compete in the qualifying round for the two spots in the super-10 stage. Only two group champion teams will join the super-10 stage.
The Group B teams, including Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Scotland and Zimbabwe are also battling for another spot in the Super-10.
If Bangladesh become group champion, they will begin their Super-10 match taking on Pakistan at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 16.
The eight top ranked teams namely hosts India, West Indies, South Africa, New Zealand, England, Australia, Pakistan and defending champions Sri
Lanka will play the 10-team final round directly, starting on March 15. Number one T20 team India will play against New Zealand in the tournament opener on March 15 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur in Maharashtra. The tournament final will be held at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 3
Two Bangladesh channels Gazi TV and Maasranga TV will telecast all the qualifying round matches and the Super-10 stage matches live.
