ICC World Cup Cricket: Tigers take on Afghanistan today

Sabbir Hossain :Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan today in their first Group A match of the ICC World Cup Cricket 2015 at the Manuka Oval in Canberra of Australia. The match starts at 9.30 am BST (Bangladesh Standard Time).Though Bangladesh lost to Afghanistan in the last year’s Asia Cup match but most of the cricket critics think it was an upset. Later, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan in their match of ICC World Twenty20 Cricket 2014. Bangladesh reached Australia before two weeks of their match against Afghanistan. Bangladesh had a good preparation in Brisbane. After that, Bangladesh took their practice session at Canberra. Players of Bangladesh participated in the practice session at Canberra on Tuesday.Bangladesh captain Masrafe Bin Mortaza said his team respected the Afghans as opponents, particularly after losing a low-scoring match to Afghanistan at the Asian Cup last March.He said, “We have taken them very seriously because we respect them not (as) beginners, we respect them all the country.”He said, “We have some very good quicks. Yes, they’re still young, but they have the potential and hopefully they’ll do their job. I feel that our spinners are world class and can bowl on any wicket.”Captain of Afghanistan National Cricket team Mohammad Nabi knows he will carry the expectations of supporters in his war-torn homeland today when he leads his team into its first World Cup match in the 50-over format.He said, “I’m very happy to represent Afghanistan in the World Cup.
