Sports Reporter :An unbeaten century by promising Mominul Haque guided Bangladesh to dominate their African counterpart when the Tigers declared their second innings making 319 for the loss of five wickets in the second innings on the fourth day of the third Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Saturday.Earlier, Bangladesh posted a massive 503 in the first innings on the second day (Thursday).In reply, Zimbabwe made a modest 374 in the first innings on the third day (Friday).Later, Zimbabwe scored 71 for the loss of one wicket in the second innings before the two umpires drew the bails for the fourth day.The Tigers have now 377-run lead in the second innings. Mominul Haque hit an unbeaten 131 off 189 balls. His 271-minute splendid knock was studded with 13 boundaries. Mominul reached his fourth Test hundred capitalizing 156 deliveries.Bangladesh resumed their second innings with the over-night score of 23. Openers Tamim Iqbal (8) and Imrul Kayes (11) resumed their second innings on the fourth day but Imrul Kayes failed to maintain his consistency as he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Richmond Matumbami off Tinashe Panyangara after adding more five runs when the team’s total was 36. Imrul Kayes hit a superb 130 in the first innings.After dismissal of Kayes, Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque repaired the early damage contributing together 113 runs in the second wicket stand before Tamim Iqbal was bowled out by Natsai M’shangwe when Bangladesh’s score was 149 for the loss of two wickets.Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal notched up a respectable 65 from 142 balls. His 181-minute painstaking innings was decorated with four fours. Tamim Iqbal hit his 17th Test half century playing 114 balls.After departure of Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque and Mahmudullah Riyad built another notable partnership. They put on together 55 runs for the third wicket partnership before Mahmudullah (30) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Richmond Matumbami off Tinashe Panyangara when the hosts total was 204 for the loss of three wickets.Then Shakib Al Hasan arrived at the crease but his innings was short-lived as he was caught at the long-on by Craig Ervine off Natsai M’shangwe when he scored 17. At that time Bangladesh’s score was 237 for the loss of four wickets.After dismissal of Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim joined Mominul Haque and contributed together 71 runs before Mushfiqur Rahim was caught at the long-on by Natsai M’shangwe off Sikandar Raza when the Tigers score was 308 for the loss of five wickets.Mushfiqur Rahim was deprived from a half-century for just four runs. His lofty shot was brilliantly picked by M’shangwe. Mushfiqur hit four fours and two sixes in his 30-ball knock.Shuvagata Hom arrived at the crease and he was on 3 before Mushfiqur Rahim declared their second innings setting a target of 449 runs to win for Zimbabwe.Tinashe Panyangara and Natsai M’shangwe got two wickets each for 31 and 77 runs respectively.Zimbabwe made a poor start in the second innings as their opener Brian Chari was dismissed by pacer Rubel Hossain for naught.Sikandar Raza and Hamilton Masakadza were on 43 runs and 26 runs respectively before the two umpires pocketted the bails for the fourth day.
