Bangladesh recorded their historic win against India securing a 79-run victory in the first ODI day and night match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday. The Tigers virtually roared out the Dhoni Brigade showing extraordinary performance in all departments – bating, bowling and fielding. The Tigers remained ‘aggressive’ after a rapid 102-run opening partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar, which helped forming the centerpiece of Bangladesh’s 307, their highest total against India in ODIs. The hosts lost four wickets either side of a rain break and endured a middle-order meltdown, but Shakib Al Hasan’s fifty coupled with late contributions from Nasir Hossain and Mashrafe Mortza hauled Bangladesh to their second 300-plus score in four games. In the second session, Shakib again came up with full force and outsmarted Dhoni with a quicker delivery bowled wide. The ball dipped and turned and took the batsman’s outside edge for a catch to Mushfiqur Rahim. But it was Mustafizur Rahman who stopped Ravindra Jadeja at 32 taking his fifth wicket. He earlier sent Ashwin back to the pavilion. Ashwin has gone for a duck. Mustafizur also took the wickets of Raina, Rahane and Rohit Sharma… A haul of five.India’s seamers sprayed the ball on the pads, which formed the theme of the early part of the innings. However, R Ashwin struck thrice in four overs to lead an Indian comeback, after which Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar built on Ashwin’s controlled performance, giving away only 35 while picking up four wickets in the last five overs.
