Sabbir Hossain :Bangladesh lost to India by one run in a thrilling Group 2 match of the ICC World Twenty20 at Bangalore in India on Wednesday.Sent into bat first, India made a fighting total of 146 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.In reply, Bangladesh scored 145 for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Mohammad Mithun (1) was caught at the long-on by Hardik Pandya off Ravichandran Ashwin when Bangladesh’s score was 11.Later, Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman repaired the early damage contributing together 44 runs for the second wicket partnership before Tamim Iqbal was stumped out by wicketkeeper MS Dhoni when the Tigers’ total was 55 for the loss of two wickets.Tamim Iqbal notched up a superb 35. He hit five fours in his 32-ball innings.Then Sabbir Rahman was stumped out by MS Dhoni from a delivery of Suresh Raina when the team’s score was 69 for the loss of three wickets. Sabbir Rahman made 26 from 15 balls featuring three fours and a sixer.Then Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (6) was cleanly bowled out by Ravindra Jadeja when Bangladesh’s total was 87 for the loss of four wickets.After departure of Mashrafe, Shakib Al Hasan was caught at the slip by Suresh Raina off Ravichandran Ashwin when Bangladesh’s score was 95 for the loss of five wickets.Shakib scored 22 from 15 balls including two sixes.Soumya Sarkar hit a run-a-ball 21 before Sarkar was caught by Virat Kohli off Ashish Nehra when the Tigers’ total was 126 for the loss of six wickets.Earlier, India made a good start with Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, the two openers added 42 in the opening stand before Rohit Sharma (18) was caught at the mid-wicket by Sabbir Rahman off Mustafizur Rahman.After dismissal of Sharma, Shikar Dhawan could stay at the crease for a short period as he was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan when India’s score was 45 for the loss of two wickets.Then Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina contributed together 50 runs for the third wicket stand before Virat Kohli was cleanly bowled out by Shuvagata Hom when India’s score was 95 for the loss of three wickets.After dismissal of Kohli, Indian batsmen failed to build any notable partnership against the tight and controlled bowling attack by Bangladeshi bowlers.Suresh Raina top-scored with 30. He hit two sixes and one four in his 23-ball innings before he was caught at the mid-wicket by Al-Amin Hossain when India’s score was 112 for the loss of four wickets.Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan added 24 and 23 runs respectively to the India total.’Wonder Boy” Mustafizur Rahman again shone with the cherry.
