Tamim maiden double ton: Record partnership: Tigers maul Pakistan

UNB, Khulna :Tamim Iqbal’s maiden double century in the second innings helped Bangladesh secure their first draw against Pakistan on day 5 of their first Test in the two-match Dan Cake Test Cricket Series at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Saturday. Replying to Pakistan’s mammoth score of 628 runs in the first innings, Bangladesh (332 runs in the first innings) resumed the second innings with overnight score of 273 runs for no loss in 61 overs on the fifth day and raised the total to 555 for 6 in 136 overs, riding on the incredible opening stand of 312 runs in 75.4 overs between Tamim Iqbal and Imrul Kayes. Apart from his maiden double century, Tamim staying with Imrul in the opening stand established another milestone as the overnight pair extended their partnership score from 273 to 312 runs which is the highest-ever partnership for Bangladesh in Tests, breaking the earlier highest one of 267 runs between Mohammad Ashraful and Mushfiqur Rahim against Sri Lanka, in the fifth wicket stand at Galle on March 8, 2013. Tamim’s double century of 206 runs came off 278 balls which involved 17 fours and seven fours while Imrul Kayes hit 150 runs off 240 balls featuring 16 fours and three sixes. Shakib Al Hasan hit unbeaten 76 runs off 104 balls with six fours and one sixes while Soumya Sarkar(33), Mominul Haque (21), Mahmudullah (40) and Shuvagata Hom (not out 20) were the other contributors for the Tigers.
