Led by a spirited all-round display from captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, the Tigers beat England by 34 runs in the second ODI to level the series 1-1 at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza hit a windy 44 from 29 balls with three sixes and two fours and captured four wickets at the cost of 29 runs. He was declared Man of the Match (MoM).
Pacer Taskin Ahmed grabbed three wickets for 47 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost to England by 21 runs in the first ODI at the same venue on October 7.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh scored a fighting total of 238 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then bowled out England for 204 off 44.4 overs.
England faced an early debacle as they lost their early four wickets for 26 runs.
Pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza dismissed JM Vince for five runs, trapped leg before wicket Jason Roy for 13 runs and cleanly bowled out BA Stokes for naught.
Shakib Al Hasan bowled out BM Duckett before he opened his account.
Then JM Bairstow and Jos Buttler fought back adding together 79 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Bairstow was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off Taskin Ahmed when England’s score was 105 for the loss of five wickets.
Then Moeen Ali (4) was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Shakib Al Hasan off Nasir Hossain when England’s total was 120 for the loss of six wickets. It was an eye-catching catch by prolific Shakib Al Hasan.
After dismissal of Moen Ali, England’s skipper Jos Buttler was trapped leg before wicket by Taskin Ahmed when the tourists’ score was 123 for the loss of seven wickets.
Jos Buttler hit a run-a-ball 57 including seven fours while Bairstow made 35 from 53 balls.
After departure of Buttler, CR Woakes (7) was caught behind by Mushfiqur Rahim off Taskin Ahmed when the visitors’ total was 132 for the loss of eight wickets.
Then DJ Willey (9) was trapped leg before wicket by Mosaddek Hossain when England’s score was 159 for the loss of nine wickets.
Then match-winner Mashrafe Bin Mortaza dismissed Jake Ball and England innings came to an end.
