Halted on different days due to rains the match between India and Bangladesh finally ended in a draw on the fifth and last day at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, India piled up a mammoth 462 for the loss of six wickets in the first innings on the fourth day (Saturday) and declared their innings.
In reply, Bangladesh scored 256 in the first innings on the fifth day and conceded follow-on.
Later, Bangladesh scored 23 for the loss of none before the two umpires pocketted the bails for the fifth and final day.
Bangladesh resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 111 for the loss three wickets on the fifth day.
Imrul Kayes and Shakib Al Hasan resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 59 and naught respectively.
Later, Shakib Al Hasan was caught behind by Wriddhiman Saha off Ravichandran Ashwin for 9 when Bangladesh’s score was 121 for the loss of four wickets.
After dismissal of Shakib Al Hasan, Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar added 51 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Imrul Kayes was stumped out by Wriddhiman Saha for 72 when Bangladesh’s total was 172 for the loss of five wickets.
After departure of Kayes, Soumya could stay at the crease for a short time as he was bowled out by Varun Aaron for 37 when the hosts total was 176 for the loss of six wickets.
Soumya made 37 from 54 balls featuring seven fours.
Then Liton Das and Shuvagata Hom added 43 runs for the seventh wicket stand before Shuvagata Hom was caught by Rohit Sharma off Ravichandran Ashwin for 9 when the team’s total was 219 for the loss seven wickets.
Later, debutante Liton Das was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin for 44 when the home sides score was 232 for the loss of eight wickets. Liton hit eight fours and one sixer in his 45-ball innings. Then Md Sahid was caught at the mid-on by Shikhar Dhawan off Harbhajan Singh for 6 when Bangladesh’s score was 246 for the loss of nine wickets.
Bangladesh’s innings came to an end when Jubair Hossain was run out by Ravichanran Ashwin for naught.
Ravichandran Ashwin bowled extremely well and finished his superb spell as 25-6-87-5.
Harbhajan Singh grabbed three wickets at the cost of 64 runs while Varun Aaron took one wicket for 27 runs.
After conceding follow-on openers Tamim Iqbal was on 16 and Imrul Kayes was on 7 in their second innings before the bails were drawn for the fifth and final day.
