TIB, AI urged to withdraw remarks

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan yesterday urged Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) and Amnesty International to seek apology sand withdraw their comments on country’s parliament and the Liberation War respectively.
“If the TIB and Amnesty International do not withdraw their statements, officials of these two organizations would be tried in people’s court. They have made statements against 16 crore people of this country,” he said speaking as the chief guest of a human chain and protest rally in the city.
Muktijuddher Chetana Bastabayan Mancha organized the programme in front of National Press Club to protest the statements of TIB and Amnesty International.
Shajahan Khan is chairman of Muktijuddher Chetana Bastabayan Mancha. Presided over by Muktijuddher Chetana Bastabayan Mancha Vice-Chairman Ismat Qadir Gama, the rally was also addressed by labour leaders Alauddin Mian, Abdul Melek Mian and Muktijoddha Sangsad Organizing Secretary AB Sultan Ahmed, among others.
Referring to the assassination of Bangabandhu in August 1975, jail killing, burning people to death with petrol bombs, Shajahan Khan asked what was the role of Amnesty International during those incidents.
He said, Amnesty International does not know the very definition of war crime. They mare making statements from London in exchange for money, he added.
The minister said Amnesty International knows about the killing of blogger, but maintain silence.
The killing of bloggers and the statements of TIB and Amnesty International are interrelated, he added.
Shajahan Khan vowed to resist those who are killing people in the name of Islam.
