A young farmer was killed and his brother injured by thunderbolt in the district on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Shujon Miah 22, son of Abed Ali of village Purbo Vakum under Singair upazila.
Local people said a thunder bolt struck them while they were working in their field known as Durgapur Chawk at about 12.30pm. Shujon died on the spot. His brother Zahid was admitted to Singair Upazila Health Complex.
