Throat-slit body of youth found in N’ganj

Police recovered the throat-slit body of a young man from the office of a transport company at Char Sayedpur in Sadar upazila on Tuesday evening, five days after he went missing. The deceased was identified as Jasimuddin Chowdhury, 35, son of Ahmed Chowdhury, a resident of Gopnagar in the upazila. He used to work at Metro Cement Company in Muktarpur in Munsiganj district.
Quoting locals, sub-inspector Ibrahim Sheikh of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station said Jasim went missing five days ago when he was returning home from his workplace. On Tuesday afternoon, the family members of Jasim recovered his mobile phone from a person with speech impediment.
Later, based on the information given by that person, the family members recovered the body of Jasim from the office of ‘Samrat Transport’, owned by one Daulat Member, at Char Sayedpur around 6pm.
Following this, locals carried out an arson attack on the house of Daulat Member and vandalised some vehicles of Samrat Transport.
