A man was found dead at a city restaurant on Nawabpur Road on Friday night.
The victim has been identified as Anwar Hossain, 30, Manager of Al Arafat Restaurant, said Shahidur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangshal Police Station.
Anwar was struck in the head with a heavy object before slitting his throat in his room on the second floor of the restaurant, the police official said.
An employee of the restaurant found the body when he went there to awake Anwar, said the OC.
“We believe that he met tragic death sometimes at night. He was struck in the head with a grinding stone and killed,” he said.
“Police are still in dark about the motive for the murder. But it might be that one of the employees, who went missing since the incident, committed the murder over previous enmity and fled from the restaurant,” the OC said.
We are trying to arrest the absconding employee, he added.
The body was sent to Mitford Hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC said.
