A Dhaka court has placed three people on three days’ remand each in a case filed for gang-raping of two teenaged girls at Kadamtoli in Dhaka.
Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder passed the order on Monday after police produced the trio — Md Rana Bepari, 32, Md Sohel Bepari, 38, and Md Aktar Ali, 38 — before the court.
Kadamtoli police station Inspector (Investigation) Mahbub Alam sought a 10-day remand for each of the accused.
The rape incidents took place from late Saturday to early Sunday.
The rape survivors, aged 13 and 15, were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Sunday night.
Inspector Mahbub said the victims are friends. A relative of one of the girls filed a case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Kadamtoli police station around 9pm on Sunday.
According to the case statement, the three men forcibly entered the house of one of the victims around 11pm on Saturday.
They beat up other members of her family, confined them to another room and gang-raped the victims, it added.
Police arrested three people in different areas of Dhaka Sunday night, the police official added.
