At least three persons remain missing from Chittagong and Jessore for the last two days. Of the three Sumon, a first year student of BCMC College, Jessore was abducted for ransom on Thursday. The kidnappers demanded Tk. 50,000 over phone to Sumon’s mother as ransom for his release.
Sumon also requested his mother over phone to pay the money demanded by the kidnappers. He said if the money is not paid, the kidnappers would kill him.
Sumon went for attending coaching class at the college on Thursday evening. But as he did not return till late night on Thursday the victim’s family became suspicious of his abduction. Sumon, is a son of Halim Hosain of Karbala Pukurpar of the town.
A General Diary (GD) was filed with Kotwali thana of Jessore in this connection by victim’s family. Officer in Charge of Kotwali thana Emdadul Huq Sheikh confirmed it to the media on Friday. The police have started investigation for rescue of Sumon, he said.

Polash Dhar, a gold trader of Chittagong city has been missing for the last three days. Dhar is the owner of MN Jewellers of Chowkbazar under Chowkbazar thana in city . He lives in a rented house of Nasir colony of Dhaniarpool area of the thana area. His family members suspect that Polash Dhar has been kidnapped. Family of Polash said , he left the house on Monday at 5 pm and since then his whereabouts is not known.
Polash Dhar was likely to go Noakhali for family matter. Since his disappearance his cell phone has been switched off.
Younger brother of Polash , Shimul Dhar lodged a GD with Chowkbazar thana on Tuesday night.
Officer -in-charge of Chowkbazar thana Atik Ahmed Chowdhury confirmed lodging of GD in this connection.
In another incident an official of a readymade garments factory of Kalurghat industrial area under Chandgaon thana Sohel Chowdhury has been missing for the last two days.
Rubel Chowdhury, younger brother of Sohel lodged a GD with the concerned thana yesterday in this regard. Sohel Chowdhury is the production Manager of C&A Garments Ltd of Kalurghat area.
Factory sources said, Sohel Chowdhury went out of the factory for lunch on Tuesday afternoon and since then he remains missing. His mobile phone is switched off since his disappearance, family member of the victim’s family said.
