Three members of a family drowned in the River Korotoa at Chondijan village in Sherpur upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased are Chandon Sarker, 36, his daughter Kiron, 6, and nephew Apurbo, 5.
Chandon Sarker, an employee at Sherpur Shedcom Park City, went to his native village Chondijan for spending holidays.
Officer-in-Charge of Sherpur Thana Humayun Kabir said the incident occurred when Chandon Sarker went to the river for catching fish around 2 pm along with Kiron and Apurbo.
At first Kiron, who was on his shoulder, drowned. Apurbo drowned when Chandon Sarker was searching for Kiron. At last, Chandon Sarker himself went missing in the river.
Police with the help of local people recovered the bodies of Chandon Sarker and his daughter.
Divers from Rajshahi are trying to recover Apurbo’s body till filling of this report.
