Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has beefed up their security measures taken in water, land and air on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee celebration of Independence from March 17 to 26.
On-site identification and verification system devices will be installed at various RAB check-posts. In this way, the faces, names and identities of unknown people can be identified.
RAB Director General (DG) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said this at a press conference held in RAB Media Center at Karwan Bazar in the capital on Tuesday.
The RAB’s spy surveillance in uniform and plain cloth will be continued. The situation will also be monitored from a central control room at the RAB headquarters and each battalion, he further said.
Replying a question, the RAB DG said there is no threat. There is also no risk of any security breach. However, we are ready to meet emergency.
He said the friendly countries will participate in the event. Heads of state from different countries will visit various events and places of interest. RAB has completed pre-deployment at all events and throughout the country by reviewing the risks.
When asked, several organizations have announced that they will not allow Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enter Bangladesh, the RAB DG said that they think they will not carry out such programs in the greater interest of the country and the nation. Even then, if they do not refrain from carrying out such programs, strict action will be taken as per the law.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) block raids are going on in Dhaka and surrounding areas to ensure flawless security for state celebrations of Mujib Borso to be attended by high-profile dignitaries.
A meeting at DMP headquarters on Sunday decided to operate block raids in all the eight divisions to ensure strict security at different places.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Ramna Division) Sajjadur Rahman said that they had already started block raids to ensure security on the occasion as well as to prevent unnecessary gatherings, criminal activities and untoward incidents.
Earlier, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed requested on Monday not to hold rallies between March 17 and March 26 to help in the successful staging of a 10-day celebration. He urged people to co-operate with police and restrict their movements without any necessity.
