Three people, including a couple, were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Amtala under Bijayanagar upazila in the district.
The deceased were identified as Sagar Miah, 35, son of Chan Miah of Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali district, his wife Shirin Begum, 28, and Billal Hossain, 32, son of Montu Miah of Companiganj area in Debidwar upazila of Cumilla district.
A private car heading towards Sylhet lost control and collided with a truck parked on the highway in Amtala area leaving the couple dead and four others injured, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khatihata Highway Police Station Md Shahjalal Alam.
Later, the driver of the private car died on the way to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex, he said, adding that the bodies were sent to the morgue of Brahmanbaria General Hospital for autopsy.
