A three-day “Development Fair-2017″ is set to begin on January 9 in all upazila and district towns across the country aimed at bringing all the people under the government uplift activities by informing the success stories to achieve Vision 2021 and Vision 2041 as well as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the event through videoconferencing at 3 pm from her official Gonabhaban residence in the city,” Dr Dewan M Humayun Kabir, the focal point of the fair, told BSS.
The theme of the fair is “Democracy for Development is the Key Motto of Sheikh Hasina”.
All government, semi-government and nongovernment organizations providing services to the people will take part in the fair to inform the people about the success stories of their respective sector, said Kabir, who is also the director (admin) of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
He said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking forward the country through declaring 10 special initiatives to make a poverty and hunger-free nation as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The initiatives are – Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar (One House, One Farm) Project;
Ashrayan Prokalpa (shelter project); Digital Bangladesh; Education Assistance Programme; Women Empowerment Programme; Electricity for All; Social Safety Programme; Community Clinic and Mental Health; Investment Development and Environment Protection. The Prime Minister, Kabir said, is working relentlessly to give the people economic freedom like her father, who gave the country political freedom.
“All participating institutions will project their respective development activities, success, future plans and way of materializing the dream before the people so that they can give more efforts to accomplish the government’s goals,” he added.
The people of all classes including students, parents, workers, businessmen, policymakers, professionals, journalists and academics will visit the fair to gather knowledge on government development activities, he said.
Kabir said the event would include discussions, cultural function to focus the War of Liberation and socioeconomic development of the country.
The topics of the discussions are: the dream of Bangabandhu and Bangladesh in future, Liberation War and economic development, Digital Bangladesh and relevant thoughts: future challenges and our preparation, the overall success of the government’s poverty alleviation, problem and prospects of implementing SDGs and planning of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Digital Bangladesh and prospects and innovation of citizen services, and Vision 2021 and 2041, our duties and preparations.
All Bangladesh missions abroad will also organize the fair at their suitable time for branding the country before the world, Kabir said.
