Three members of police of Jatrabari Police Station have been suspended on charges of beating accused and doing unprofessional work.
The suspended are identified as sub-inspector Biswajit Sarkar, constables Md. Shawkat Ali and Nabaneeta Bonsen.
Earlier, the three policemen and an Ansar member conducted a raid at Bibirbagicha area under Jatrabari Police Station.
According to CCTV footage of the incident, constable Navneeta Bonsen was seen beating a woman’s hand with a stick repeatedly. She was seen grabbing the throat and hair of that woman and torturing her.
Meanwhile, sub-inspector Biswajit Sarkar and constable Shawkat were beating a man while taking him down the stairs.
Police have formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter.
Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station said that three policemen and one Ansar member have been suspended in connection with the incident on Saturday.
Further action will be taken in this regard, he added.
