Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday said that the citizens who were threatened by militant or terror outfits would be given special protection.
“It is a part of local and international conspiracy,” the minister said responding to journalists’ query at the Bangladesh Textile University at Tejgaon in the capital.
Skills and capabilities of the security agencies have been increased as they are working to thwart militants, one after another, he said.
Earlier in the day, Professor Muntasir Mamun lodged a general diary (GD) with the Dhanmondi Police Station claiming that he received death threats, confirmed Officer-in-Charge of the police station Abdul Latif.
Law enforcing members have deployed ins and outs of his residence as he sought protection from the police, the OC said.Rights activist and eminent citizen Sultana Kamal also filed a general diary on Saturday with police seeking security, citing death threat from a militant outfit.
The Home Minister said that people are not scared of threats of militant attacks in the country, as described in the Lone Wolf magazine.
In March, Lone Wolf magazine, a mouthpiece of religious extremist organization Jama’atul Mujahideen, published a report mentioning three eminent citizens-Sultana Kamal, Journalist Shahriar Kabir, and Prof Muntasir Mamun-as their targets.
Following the report, noted human rights activist Sultana Kamal filed a general dairy with Dhanmondi Police Station seeking security.
In her complaint, she stated that a militant group published a magazine in March this year where it said preparations to kill three prominent individuals.
Expressing grave concern over the death threat, she sought steps for her security and for those persons named by the militant group.
Responding to another query on IS claiming responsibility for cocktail attack on police in city’s Gulistan, the minister said the Site Intelligence always claims responsibility if anything happens.
