Staff Reporter :Sramik-Karmachari-Peshajibi-Muktijoddha Samannay Parished [SKPMSP], a platform of pro-government workers, employees, freedom fighters and professionals, has threatened to besiege BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office if she does not withdraw hartal and blockade by February 2. “You [Khaleda Zia] will be confined. You will be surrounded from all sides. The electricity and gas connections of your office will be cut off. Your food supply will be blocked… if you do not withdraw blockade before the SSC examination scheduled on February 2,” Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan categorically said while addressing a grand rally organised by SKPMSP held at Shurawardy Udyan on Friday afternoon.Several thousand workers from transport, garments and textiles sectors joined the rally. The Minister said, “We urge Khaleda Zia to leave destructive programmes like hartal and blockade for the greater interest of the country’s people. Otherwise, we all will besiege your office with the torched vehicles, which were earlier ablazed by arsonists during blockade period.” The SSC [Secondary School Certificate] and its equivalent examinations will begin on Monday. Around 14, 79,266 examinees from 27,808 educational institutions across the country are expected to sit for the SCC and equivalent exams.Referring to the issue, Shahjahan Khan urged the people to remain alert and prevent the arsonists and anarchist during the SSC examinations. “At least 15 drivers, helpers and labourers were killed during the ongoing blockade and hartal. Khaleda Zia is solely responsible for the killing. I ask the people to catch the bombers and hand over them to police. Help the administration resisting the blockaders,” he said.The Shipping Minister, also convener of the SKPMSP, asked the grand rally to submit memorandum to Prime Minister for taking steps against the arsonists and bombers. “The education sector is now under threat. All the industries are on the brink of ruin due to blockade and hartal. Khaleda Zia is unleashing the subversive activities in the name of the movement. She must be punished for this situation,” he warned. In this backdrop, the shipping minister also announced four-day programme protesting the arson, vandalism and anarchy in the country in the name of political movement. The programmes will be held under the banner of SKPMSP.Of the programmes, the SKPMSP will join the rally of Sarak-Paribahan Malik Sramik Okiya Parished at National Press Club on January 31. On February 2, the SKPMSP will organize rallies at all the Shaheed Minars all over the country. Rallies will be held at all districts and cities protesting the arson and killing of transport workers on February 3. On February 5, the officials and employers of all offices will protest the arson and vandalism from 12:45pm to 1pm. On the same day, all the vehicles including bus, launch and train will press horns for two minutes across the county.
