Example of harmony is seen in every day in the evening at the Supreme Court Mazar and Mosque Complex in the High Court area of the capital. Thousands of people break their fast here every day, forgetting their social distance and financial status and class-profession differences.
About the Iftar arrangement when asked Safiq-ur-Rahman, Khadem of the Mazar and Mosque Complex, told The New Nation that it has been tied in harmony for a long time as tradition. This is not just a place of prayers. Such an initiative of Iftar in the mosque is basically an example of maintaining the bridge and equality of brotherhood and unity.
From here people learn religious values based on brotherhood and equality, he said.
According to Safiq-ur-Rahman, preparations for Iftar started here after 3:00 pm. Iftar is organized for at least 1,300 people every day. 40 people worked as volunteers. However, on Friday and Thursday, the number of people exceeded one and a half thousand. The average daily cost is taka about 30 thousand.
How could you manage the finance for Iftar, Khadem Safiq-ur- Rahman said people of all types of profession, including lawyers, judges, politicians, businessmen as well as bureaucrats donate here for the blessing and virtue.
There are special arrangements of Iftar for women beside men. Every day two to three hundred women take part in Iftar.
Members of the Mazar committee said that after the coronavirus infection in 2020, the participation of men and women decreased. But at present number of participants have increased, said Safiq-ur-Rahman.
Chhola, boots, muri, khichuri, biryani and other heavy meals are also served at Iftar. Besides, there are various fruits, including Apple, watermelon, and pineapple.
In addition to the arrangement inside the mosque, another group’s iftar was distributed on the ground floor of the mosque. The event is organized mainly by donations and voluntary initiatives of the devotees of the Mazar.
