Thick fog disrupts flights, vessels operations

Dense fog and cold spell partially paralysed the life in Chittagong and its adjacent areas with massive disruption of air, water and road communications causing untold sufferings to thousands of people.
Traffic control room of Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport (CSAIA) sources said dense fog disrupted flight operations at CSAIA today. Airport sources said the flight schedule of domestic and international flights was changed for one to three hours due to dense fogs.
Large number of Biman passengers passed night at the airport as three Mascot, Saudi Arabia and UAE bound international flights could not land at CSAIA Sunday night.
Three regular international flights scheduled to leave from Shah Amanat International Airport at 12 am, 1 am and 2 am respectively last night but could not leave before 10 am, 12 pm and 1 pm today respectively due to dense fog.
Besides a domestic flight was forced to land at CSAIA as they could not land at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka due to dense fog.
On the other hand many of the domestic flights including Regent Airways and United Airways have been rescheduled or delayed for one to three hours due to dense fog, airport sources said.
Radio control room of Chittagong port authority sources said due to thick fog plying of all kinds of ships in port channel remained suspended since last night.
The port authority abruptly prompted to impose a ban on movements of all vessels till 11.30 am today to and from Chittagong owing to poor visibility.
However flight and vessel movements returned to normalcy at around 12 pm today when the fog started to lessen.
Vandalise in city clinic over death : The agitated family members and the relatives of Mehrunnesa Rima(25) vandalized the properties of the Surgiscope Private Clinic in city following her death in the Clinic for alleged negligence of the physicians.
 The incident was occurred at 8 am Sunday sensing the news of death of Meherunnesa who admitted in Gynecology ward of the clinic. The victim Meherunesa is the daughter of the younger brother of Expatriate Welfare Minister Nurul Islam BSc and wife of Australian expatriate Abdullah al Mamun.
Sources said Meherunnesa underwent scissor operation at early 6 am who died later at 8 pm at unit -2 of the Surgiscope Clinic due to excessive bleeding .
Meherunnesa gave birth of a daughter . Officer in-charge of Panchalish thana told that sensing the news of ransacking, the police force rushed to the clinic and brought the situation under control and none was arrested in connection. No formal case yet to be lodged before the police, he added.
APS of the Expatriate Minister Niaz Morshed Niru told the media while contacted that the relatives of the deceased demanded proper investigation over the death of Mehrunnesa and exemplary punishment to the physicians and the hospital authority if proved their negligence of duties.
