Staff Reporter :
The BNP has demanded resignation of Food Minister Quamrul Islam and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq following the verdict of the Supreme Court against them.
Describing the Supreme Court’s verdict as ‘historic’, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said, “We think that the two ministers do not have the ethical right to remain in the Cabinet following the verdict. They should resign for the sake of ethics, for the sake of democracy.”
“The verdict of the apex court punishing the two ministers is a historical one. We think this judgement will surely play a historic role in protecting the impedance of the judiciary,” he said while talking to the reporters at BNP’s
Nayapaltan central office in the city.
Mirza Fakhrul urged the two ministers to quit immediately. “Democracy and ethics suggest that the two ministers lose their ethical right to be in the Cabinet when the apex court penalise them,” he said.
