Tamim Iqbal is currently out of the national team with a knee injury which he received during the match against Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity, representing the Prime Bank Cricket Club, in the DPL (Dhaka Premier League) last month, as since then he had been in complete rehabilitation process.
The ace opening batsman of Bangladesh hasn’t featured during the T20I series against Zimbabwe, and Australia at home, as the batsman is scheduled to not appear in the home series against New Zealand, to start from September 1, next month.
However, despite playing in only three matches of the recent 21 T20I matches played by Bangladesh, Tamim is still to be included in the national squad for the ICC World T20 tournament, scheduled to start from November, as the Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee Akram Khan had this to say about Tamim,
“Tamim (Iqbal) is undoubtedly one of the best batsmen in Bangladesh, so he will obviously play if he is fit; and he would definitely be with the team.” Akram said. “Injury is his only problem, and the selector panel is constantly consulting his injury with the doctors, and the physios. We are concerned with this, and we are hoping that he will be fit in no time.” He added.
