Theatre festival starts at Shilpakala Academy

The first phase of a national theatre festival titled, ‘Mulyabodher Natyautsab 2016’ is underway at Shilpakala Academy.
The seven-day first phase was inaugurated by Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Thursday evening at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy.
Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam and International Theatre Institute’s honorary president Ramendu Majumder, were present at the opening ceremony.
Addressing the inauguration, director general of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky said they had chosen human values as the festival’s theme since the society is going through a rough patch with moral degradation playing a vital part in it.
Troupes from all the districts of the country will participate in the event, in three phases. The first phase will run for a week and feature 20 productions by 20 districts.
 The second and third phases will take place in October and November next.
The academy has been organising theme-based national theatre festivals since 2012.
The first part of the festival will end on September 7.
