Nagorik Natya Sampradaya premiered their latest production, Kalo Joler Kabbo at the inaugural ceremony of the 7 day-long Theatre Festival Notuner Utshab -2019 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Friday evening .
‘Kalo Joler Kabbo’ featured Asaduzzaman Noor as Bhangari on the first day of the festival. The unique theatre festival kicked off in festive mood.
The renowned theatre troupe is organising the festival supported by Ministry of Culture, Unilever, Berger Paints and Dhaka Bank Limited.
The inaugural ceremony of the festival was held at the National Theatre Hall of BSA. By lighting earthen candles, new generation female theatre personalities such as Bonna Mirza, Tanima Hamid, and Hridi Huq were honoured, among others, during the opening ceremony.
State Minister of Cultural Affairs KM Khalid was present on the occasion as the chief guest, among others.
Veteran artiste Ramendu Majumder, President of Dhaka Theatre Nasiruddin Yousuff and Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky attended the event as special guests, while Vice President of Nagorik Natya Sampradaya Sara Zaker and General Secretary of the troupe Ataur Rahman delivered the welcome speeches.
During the festival, seven new plays will be premiered at 7pm every day, at the National Theatre Hall. Following the inauguration, premier show of Pantha Shahriar’s Kalo Joler Kabbo saw an enormous turnout.
The audiences enjoyed the brilliant performances by the actors of the play. Asaduzzaman Noor, Aupee Karim and Pantha Shahriar mesmerized the house-full audience with their astonishing acting skills.
The plays to be staged during the festival were selected by a jury board consisting cultural personality Tariq Anam Khan, Professor Abdus Selim and senior members of the troupe Nagorik Natya Sampradaya. On the closing day of the festival, the troupe will honour four noted theatre personalities namely-Ferdousi Majumdar, Josna Biswas, Lucky Inam and Shimul Yousuff.
