POEM: The Twin Blue Lotus

block
Renaissance Ahmed :
Shakespeare is a wonder
As we come across the verses he wrote,
Shakespeare is splendid
As we listen to the grand words he used,
But, Shakespeare is simply excellent
As he offered us a great gift–
Ophelia and Desdemona,
Who are more brave than beautiful
Who conquered ugly world
With their beauty of innocence.
Over the brook of life,
There float-you may find,
Two blue lotus,
The twin tragic daughters–
Ophelia and Desdemona;
“Who turned blue
Absorbing the pangs and pathos of life””.
Dancing in the breeze
Ophelia awaits Hamlet
Where she won’t have to obey
A father so heartless,
She won’t be a doll anymore to the trap
Of a conspiring Duke,
Or to tolerate the worthless blessings
Of a stupid queen.
Stretching her lovely arm
She waits for Hamlet
Who is tired of confusing
Within himself
Who has brought an end
To the wrath of his revenge
By destroying his world to silence;
Who is now calm enough to understand
Why she did return
His love tokens,
Who compelled her
On that devilish deed
How her heart did bleed that
To follow command.
In that world infinite–
Hamlet wonder how he could do
That much wrong with this much sweet Ophelia !!
Their Time is now
No longer out of joint
And love is a bunch of
Forget-me-nots ;
As Hamlet is free from
All revenge thoughts.
Desdemona is just a surprise,
Innocent as a heavenly flower.
Yet ardent with courage
While elopes with a valiant hero.
Love was a touchstone for her–
A bold-less so peculiar,
Her language to her father
So firm !! very unusual to her.
Suddenly radiant with love
Walked on the highway of life
Armed with a frank childlike boldness.
Exposed to a world so gruesome
Desdemona continued to be a child–
Surprised to Othello’s anger,
Helpless to resist him,
Ignorant of suspecting the enemies.
She doesn’t know–
How to suspect people
How to spy on them,
How to protect her love
From people envious.
She only knows and shows
Endurance infinite-
For her love.
How could her heavenly innocence resist
When she was falsely murdered??
What just she could,
What just Desdemona could do–
Became bold to save the murderer.
Who could ever forget her answer
To Emilia’s : “” Who hath done this deed?
Nobody,I myself, farewell
Commend me to my kind Lord.
O, Farewell. “”
Would Othello come back
To this pretty blue lotus,Child of Nature,
To seek pardon??
To say , “” You are yourself,
Nothing but a fragrance.
And ashamed of my past deed
Shouldn’t I commit
My Second Suicide ? “”
