The New Nation will take on Jamuna TV in their first Group B match of the BSJC-Walton Media Cricket Tournament at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium today. The match starts at 12.00 Noon.
Bangladesh Sports Journalists Community (BSJC) has arranged the cricket meet while Walton Group is the sponsor of the competition.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder will inaugurate the cricket tournament today as the chief guest.
Regarding this tournament, a press conference was held at the conference of the conference room of Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Senior Vice-President of BSJC Md Mayeenuddin Tareq, Executive Director of Walton Group SM Zahid Hasan, Operative Director of Walton Group Uday Hakim, Senior Deputy Director of Walton Group Feroze Alam, Vice-President of BSJC Kamal Hossain Bablu, General Secretary of BSJC Shafiqul Islam Shamim and Administrator of Bangabandhu National Stadium Md Yahya were present at the conference.
A total of 24 news media and electronic houses splitting into eight groups are taking part in the first phase of the competition.
Dhaka Tribune, Kaler Kantha, Independent are in Group A, The New Nation, Jamuna TV, SA TV are in Group B, Maasranga TV, ATN News, BD News24.com are in Group C, Inqilab, Naya Diganta, ATN Bangla are in Group D, Channel i, Bangla News 24.com, Sangbad Protidin are in Group E, GTV, Boishakhi TV, Banik Barta are in Group F, Bangla Tribune, News24 TV, The Daily Star are in Group G, Manab Kantha, RTV, BTV are in Group H.
The champions will be awarded Taka fifty thousand while the runners-up will be given Taka thirty thousand and the third-place achiever and fourth-place achiever will get Taka ten thousand each.
Bedsides, the Man of the Tournament will be awarded Taka ten thousand and the Man of the Final will get Taka five thousand.
