The Matt Damon starrer, The Great Wall was released in Bangladesh yesterday, January 27 and is now available for movie enthusiasts at Bashundhara City’s Star Cineplex.
Interestingly, the film is yet to be released in its country of origin, USA. The official release date for USA is February 17.
The last time something like this happened was when Princess Diana’s biopic, Diana, which was released two weeks prior to the USA.
The Great Wall tells us the story behind the iconic wall in China which is also one of the seven wonders of the world.
The wall stretches almost 5,500 miles and took about 1,700 years to finish construction.
The film has been produced as a joint initiative by China and the United States of America (Legendary Entertainment, China Film Group Corporation, Atlas Entertainment).
The epic historical fiction action-adventure film has been directed by Zhang Yimou and stars Matt Damon, Jing Tian, Andy Lau and Pedro Pascal among others, in important roles.
The film has been a topic of discussion and criticised on social media for having an American actor play the lead role in a story that revolves around the history of China.
