BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka has reiterated the party’s claims that the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia spoke to India’s ruling party chief Amit Shah over the phone.
Khoka, who is in the United States now for medical treatment, claimed media statements rubbishing the Khaleda-Amit Shah conversation were ‘ not the words of the real Amit Shah’.
The BNP vice chairman spoke at a press briefing in New York on Tuesday night.
“Amit Shah did call Khaleda Zia. The statement that two channels of the country (Ekattor TV, Channel 24) are not words of the real Amit Shah,” he
said to reporters at the briefing.
“If the incident was bogus, the BJP itself would have provided a statement.”
Khaleda’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan claimed at a press briefing on Jan 8 that Shah had called the BNP chief to enquire about her health.
But several BJP leaders told bdnews24.com that it was highly unlikely, though the BNP stuck to its claim.
Several Bangladeshi news media contacted Shah on Saturday amid the confusion.
