Thailand on Thursday assured Bangladesh of extending its support to the country’s efforts to be the member of regional forums, including Mekong-Ganges Cooperation Forum and East West Economic Corridor.
Visiting Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai gave the assurance during a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.
The Thai minister also assured Bangladesh that they will stand by it to be the sectoral partner of the Asean.
He paid rich tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and thanked the Prime Minister for commissioning Bangabandhu Chair at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand.
The Chair will be inaugurated jointly by foreign ministers of the two countries, Ihsanul Karim said.
Pramudwinai stressed the importance of exchanging more high-level visits, and invited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit Thailand at her convenient time.
He apprised the Prime Minister of the experimental ‘goat project’ of Thailand initiated by Thai Princess Sirin Dhron with Bangladeshi ‘Black Bengal’ species.
