A mobile court led by RAB-7 forces and BSTI officials convicted a noted food manufacturer of the port city -Thai Food Products Ltd with Tk.5 lakh for alleged using of poisonous chemicals in producing the confectionery items.
Mobile court conducted raid in their factory at Muradpur area in city on Thursday from 6 pm to 9 pm, BSTI sources said.
Executive Magistrate Md. Sarwar Alam led the mobile court. BSTI sources said Thai Food company was using high poisonous ingredients, colour and preservative chemicals in producing the confectionery items since long .
Under the act of Consumers Rights & Preservations Act-20, section 26, the penalty was imposed on Thai Food, sources added.
