Thai businesses seek investment opportunities in Bangladesh

A delegation from the Thai Board of Investment (BOI), led by the Chollada Areefajjakul, Director of Thai Overseas Investment Promotion Division has attended a meeting with the representatives of Board of Investment (BoI) with a view to seeking business opportunities in the country.
The meeting took place at the boardroom of Board of Investment in the city on Sunday.
The eight members Thai delegation received information regarding the potential investment sector of Bangladesh. The ambit of the delegation was to assess the investment climate and regulatory environment of Bangladesh as Thai BOI is contemplating to select Bangladesh as an investment destination apart from Nigeria, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan.
Some members of Thai delegation made inquiries about main sectors of investment promising for Thailand’s investors and officers of BOI Bangladesh responded to them with pertinent information.
The meeting was presided over by Dr S A Samad, Executive Chairman of Board of Investment. Bangladesh has proven an ideal destination for the foreign investors. The government is providing all kinds of logistic support to the foreign investors for investing in the country.
The Board of Investment is encouraging the foreign investors to invest in the country for the betterment of both countries’ economy. ‘We have already introduced online service with a view to providing quality service for the foreign investors’, he said.
Md Ariful Hoque, Deputy Director of Board of Investment presented a power point where he highlighted investment opportunities and regulatory environment in Bangladesh and functions of BOI.
Phasit Chudabuddhi, Charge da Affair, Oranus Watthayanon, Counsellor and Wachara Chamnanwong Minister Counsellor, Royal Thai Embassy to Bangladesh accompanied the Thai delegation. Besides officials from Bolliger and Company has also participated in the meeting.
A good number of BoI members also took part the meeting.
